Making Web Accessibility Understandable — One Practical Step at a Time

I’m Jimmy Lancaster — a software engineer, educator, and advocate for making the web more inclusive and usable for everyone. I started this project to create straightforward, real-world guidance for developers who want to build WCAG-compliant websites, without getting overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information out there.

Who I Am - Jimmy Lancaster

With over 15 years of experience as a software engineer, I’ve spent my career building high-performance teams and high-impact products. I currently serve as Chief Product Officer at 365 Connect, where I lead the development of innovative solutions that streamline operations for property management professionals.

At 365 Connect, we began our mission in 2018 to certify our platform as WCAG-compliant. What started as a business goal soon evolved into a deeply personal and company-wide journey into accessibility. As we navigated the standards, tools, and challenges, our focus shifted — we became genuinely passionate about making the web more usable for people with disabilities. It wasn’t just about avoiding legal risk; it was about doing what’s right. Accessibility became more than a checkbox — it became part of our purpose.

In addition to my work at 365 Connect, I host The Multifamily Tech Gurus podcast, where I explore the intersection of technology and the apartment industry—covering topics like innovation, automation, and, of course, digital accessibility.

Why I Built This Site

Web accessibility is often seen as a daunting, highly technical requirement reserved for compliance experts. But I believe accessibility should be practical, teachable, and approachable — whether you’re a solo developer, part of a growing team, or just someone trying to improve your site for real people.

This site and the accompanying YouTube channel exist to demystify accessibility through hands-on tutorials, honest commentary, and real code examples. You won’t find vague definitions here. Just concrete solutions that help make the web better.

I’m not a lawyer — I’m a developer who cares deeply about solving problems and doing the right thing.

Beyond the Code

I live in the greater New Orleans area with my wife Trisha and our son, James. Together, we’re passionate about giving back and sponsor scholarships for high school students in Angeles City, Philippines — Trisha’s hometown.

When I’m not building software or shooting videos, you’ll likely find me at the racetrack pursuing my other obsession: motorsports.
